The "Dimitrie Gusti" National Village Museum together with the Anno Museum in Norway is organizing a press conference for the launch of the project "ROM (a) NOR Interferences" on Monday, May 23, 2022, at 11.00 AM. This complex and unique project is a journey through time and space to promote, valorize and revitalize the Roma cultural heritage through museology and social inclusion, in order to improve the situation of the Roma population. The project is addressed to the Roma minority as a whole and to the visiting public in Romania and Norway, as well as to the organizing museums ( "Dimitrie Gusti" National Village Museum and Anno Museum) and aims to revitalize the Roma cultural heritage. Roma cultural heritage will be explored in order to identify typical elements of the vernacular architecture.
Based on the research, a specific household with a complete inventory will later be reconstructed in the Village Museum, and the movable cultural assets will be preserved and restored by museum specialists. Another important component of the project is the participation of the Roma population in debates, training activities and public events. Solutions related to social inclusion will be offered through courses in creative industries and traditional crafts, entrepreneurship and cultural heritage. Anno Museum, the Norwegian partner, will participate in research campaigns, transfer of expertise in the field of restoration and curating and debate sessions focused on identifying best practices on the revitalization and promotion of traditional Roma crafts. In addition, it contributes to the promotion of Roma cultural heritage by organizing a temporary exhibition dedicated to the Roma minority from Norway in Romania.
